U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton arrived in Dakar Tuesday
evening for a two-day official visit to Senegal. Mrs. Clinton was met on
arrival by Senegalese Foreign Minister Alioune Badara Cisse.
According to Senegal's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the US Secretary of State was due to meet with President Macky Sall on Wednesday and then visit the Cheikh Anta Diop University (UCAD), among other engagements.
PANA reports that Senegal is the first stop in Secretary Clinton's 11-day swing across six African nations, which also include South Sudan, Uganda, Kenya, Malawi and South Africa.
During the 31 July-10 Aug. trip, the Secretary of State will 'emphasize U.S. policy commitments outlined in the Presidential Policy Directive - to strengthen democratic institutions, spur economic growth, advance peace and security as well as promote opportunity and development for all citizens', the US State Department said.
